I have loved stories for as long as I can remember. Storybook Weaver was my favorite computer game, along with the amazing Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? When I discovered I could make my own stories, my world filled with the color of possibilities. In 5th grade, I wrote my first story; my own twist on Pocahontas with Toa, my Algonquin hero, and Elizabeth, my royal lady from England.  

My Creative Writing teacher, Mrs. Gibeault, read my story and gave me hope.  

“You have the heart of a storyteller.” 

She was right. Since then and all through my high school and postpartum years, I hand-wrote all my stories in college-ruled notebooks, on every page, front and back. They are all under my bed now, and they need work! Buuuut they taught me how to write, and I’ve been improving my craft since then.  

But my storyteller's heart has not changed.  

While I would love to say I’ve known God my entire life, I did not have a personal relationship with Him until I was 20 years old, when I met my husband. After having my firstborn, God put the three things I love most in my heart all at once.  

My faith. Story. Ancient History. My calling and passion were born in one wonderful package! 

How wonderful He is that He allows me to do all three! 

For years, I had a desire to find a faith-filled writing group for mothers who were Christians. I searched and searched and couldn’t find one, even though God impressed it upon my heart so heavily, He led me to create one. 

Enter Christian Mommy Writers. We are a tight-knit, Christian community for mothers who are writers. C.M.W. has been years in the making and welcomes both Independent and Traditionally published authors of all genres. We write while honoring the Lord, and He is the center of our amazing group. We’ve been going 4 years strong, and I love pouring into this ministry and getting to know these amazing women who are avid readers and writers! 

Ever since I became a Christian, I am an extreme lover of Jesus. I’m addicted to sunshine, yet 75 degrees with a slight breeze is my sweet spot. Any hotter and I’m too hot and any colder and I’m too cold. I was born and raised in Alaska and have had enough snow to last me a lifetime.  

I’m an enigma who enjoys waking up at 5 a.m., rainy days, and I don’t like coffee.  

There is a loooong list of movies I haven’t seen. So long in fact, I’ve won 2 superlatives for it. (Not kidding) My choice in music is very ecclectic and my favorite movies are the ones with suspense, romance, and unlikely heroes–which is why I write about them! 

I can’t seem to keep plants alive, and I’m deathly afraid of spiders even though they seem to love me. If you want a terrible spider story, I’ve got one for you 😉 

I met my husband at 20 years old, and we were married 9 months later. I think he’s the most handsome man on earth, and he is the best husband. He is super super supportive of me and my writing and works hard enough that I can stay hoome with our offspring. He’s also a dedicated father as he helps me wrangle and homeschool our 3 barefoot children.  

My guilty pleasures are drinking tea and reading Christian Fiction, murder mystery parties, bookstore hunts, and antiquing.

Bethany Cox has been in love with reading and writing stories since she was a little girl. She dabbles in historical Christian fiction and deeper issues and hurts often forgotten. Her goal is to bring joy and reminders of God’s goodness to others with scripture inspired stories.

She hopes to honor God with her words and ultimately point others to Him, the Author of all. When she isn’t writing, which is her favorite passion, she has her nose in a good book. You can find her homeschooling her kids, prioritizing at home sushi date nights, and planning her next costume party.

She has also created a group for writing mothers and is passionate about encouraging moms in their God-given passion for writing and creating stories.
